As part of the project Plutot Que Rien curated by Raphaële Jeune and Frédéric Neyrat at the Maison Populaire in Montreuil, Neal Beggs made a wall drawing based on the route taken while walking from his home close to Nantes to the summit of Mont Blanc during 2009. A film of his walk was also shown in the gallery space and during the time it took to run the film twice (approximatly 8 hours) Beggs made his wall drawing.
The drawing is made with 6mm scotch tape painted red and black. Nantes is top left and Mont Blanc bottom right. The actual distance between the two is a little under 800km. The exhibition lasted only for one day, the 21march, meaning that two hours after the completion of the drawing it had to be removed. In a sense this fitted the spirit of walking very well, in that as we pass through the landscape we leave no trace behind us.
